G-Stomper Studio 5.5 open BETA

Postby planet-h » Fri May 26, 2017 5:53 pm

Hi everybody
The open BETA tests for the upcoming G-Stomper Studio 5.5 started today.

If you're willing to join the tests, just visit the G-Stomper Public BETA Group on google+ and click "ask to join".

Important:

Only regular owners of a G-Stomper Studio full license, bought on Google Play, can join the test and download the BETA release.

The pre-release introduces the following upgrades:

Play in time with Ableton Link!

The clearly most exciting news about this release is the integration of Ableton Link, a new technology that synchronizes beat, phase and tempo of Ableton Live and Link-enabled apps over a wireless network. It lets you play devices together with the freedom of a live band. Anyone can start and stop their part while others keep playing, and anyone can adjust the tempo and the rest will follow. You can use Link to play with several instances of Ableton Live, with Live and Link-enabled apps, or even without Live in your setup: using Link-enabled apps on multiple devices, or multiple apps on the same device.

Here's a quick Walkthrough how to sync multiple devices:

1. To use Ableton Link, all devices you want to synchronize must be connected with the same Wireless LAN.

2. Enable Ableton Link in G-Stomper Studio (there there are two ways to enable Ableton Link):
- Long press PLAY, then press 'Enable Ableton Link'
- In the G-Stomper Settings: Main Screen / SETUP / SEQ / Ableton Link

Once you have enabled Ableton Link on both devices, you get a short notification message on both devices saying 'Connected Links : 1'.
As a matter of course it is not limited to two devices. It has been tested it with 8 concurrent devices running Android versions from 4.0.4 to 7.1.1 and even also the Android O developer preview.

3. Now just press play on both devices, these will sync automatically.

4. If one of the devices is slightly delayed due to different latencies, please use the 'Latency Compensation' slider right below the 'Enable Ableton Link' setting to compensate the Latency difference. If you find it difficult to match the correct value, just run a metronome on both devices (rather than a complex beat) to adjust the latency compensation.

5.5 BETA 2 release notes:

- Integrated Ableton Link for beat, phase and tempo synchronization over a wireless LAN (long press PLAY, then 'Enable Ableton Link', or likewise 'Main Screen / SETUP / SEQ / Ableton Link')
- New FX type: 'Stereo Tool' that allows MID/SIDE Processing and much more (check the DYN tab in the FX selector)
- New Bypass switch for the Parametric 3-Band EQ
- Added a Stereo Spread slider to the VA-Beast UNISON that allows to narrow the stereo image of the signal if required
- Consolidated the ON/OFF and VOICES buttons of the VA-Beast UNISON (now you can just click through OFF/2x/3x/5x)
- The OpenSL Audio System is no longer experimental
- Increased the tempo range from 30..300bpm to 20..999bpm
- Changed the Tempo sliders to act exponential (rather than linear) to make it easier to select the most common tempo values
- Reduced the memory consumption of the FX Units by 40%
- General overhaul of the Latency Compensation mechanism
- Many minor bug fixes and improvements

Very special thanks to UrsaMajor from the forum for his suggestions (Stereo Tool, EQ Bypass, Unison Stereo Spread) and to Ron for his input to BETA1 (improvements for Ableton Link integration).

Hope you like the new features.
