Midi Controller - Setting up drum pads

Hello,
Been tapping away on my phone and tablet, but got an budget MIDI controller to make noise and drive the wife nuts while looking like a piano player for someone looking from the outside.

I have mapped the keyboard/drum pads of the MIDI controller easy enough, but here lies a bit of problem:
The keyboard works very well, but the drum pads, for some reason, always play the last sample I tapped in.
My keyboard keys are on channel 6 and the drum pads, on channel 10 (hardware defaults) and all configured accordingly on G-Stomper.

How can I play via the MIDI controller ONLY a single drum sample?

I've read the manual, and even asked Copilot for help, but it started with nonsensical advice that was of little help.

I apologize if it's in the manual, but because I just got myself in this world, some lingo might have gone over my head.

This is an example of the pad configuration:

First pad note is 40, and the second one is 41 and so on...

If I read your comment correctly, then you have mapped your controller's MIDI channel to the selected Track T[..] in the sampler channels, ports section (in G-Stomper MIDI SETUP).
This setup just maps the one selected drum track. Different notes in this setup all play the same sample (track), just with different notes.

To map all drum tracks to one MIDI channel, you must map your controller's channel to the "Global channel" in the G-Stomper MIDI SETUP.
Once you've mapped the global channel, you have to map your pad's notes to the different sampler tracks in the "Global Key Mappings". You can map a note to each track (01-24).
The track (play sample) mappings are just on top of the list of global key mappings.

Hello again! Thank you for the welcome and for your help!

Now to configure the knobs and the secondary behaviour of the pads to start and stop playing, start recording, etc, and all will be good, but the fact that the pads are under my control is great.

Next, invest time on the VA-Beast synth, and make more than random noises.

I wonder why this tool is not more widely known...
