8.2.9.6 Keyboard Sync

image

KB Sync off:

Within the current Sound (or Track), the LFOs of each voice are synchronized. In other words, if you play a chord, but you hit the keys one after another with some time in between, then the LFOs of all voices of the chord will be synchronized to the first pressed key.

KB Sync off and Mono:

If KB Sync is off, normally the first pressed key (or played note) starts/re-triggers the LFOs.

If the Synths Mono switch is on (see Chapter: Glide / Legato) and KB Sync is off, then the LFOs are not restarted when the first Note is played.

In that special case (KB Sync off, Mono on) the LFOs run in the background without getting re-triggered. This is very useful for 303 style Loops, when you a slow LFO (attached to the Filter Cutoff for example) while the sequence (which usally contains gaps without notes) is running.

KB Sync on:

The LFOs are independent for each voice.

Each played Note has it’s own LFO cycle, which is started/re-triggered when the Note starts to play.

In other words, if you play a chord, but you hit the keys one after another with some time in between, then the LFOs of the different voices will not be in sync with each other.

Note:

The Single Cycle (Envelope) mode requires to the KB Sync to be enabled. Turning KB Sync off automatically turns the Single Cycle (Envelope) mode off as well, if enabled (see Chapter: Single Cycle (Envelope) Mode).
