We’ve limited the MIDI over BLE access to Android 12, as from Android 12 onwards, scanning for Bluetooth equipment only requires the BLUETOOTH_SCAN and BLUETOOTH_CONNECT permissions. Please refer to New Bluetooth permissions in Android 12 | Android Developers for further information about the new Bluetooth permission requirements starting with Android 12.0.
Android 11 and lower requires location access to be able to scan for Bluetooth equipment. Since access to location data will no longer comply with privacy requirements in 2026, we have decided to discontinue support for Bluetooth access on Android 11 and earlier versions.
