Sampler features.

Postby UrsaMajor » Sun Mar 19, 2017 4:57 pm

Amp attack slider for softer attack of percussive sounds
Mod env Invert switch (negative)
Mod env increased depth resolution (esp from 0-10)
LFO 1-shot mode for use as 2nd env.
Mod env + LFO pan destination

Hi UrsaMajor
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Agree, I'll consider that.
It could take place where the disabled rate slider is.

UrsaMajor wrote:Mod env Invert switch (negative)

You already have that, at least almost, as you can reverse the mod env.
In case of a linear Attack/Decay (which the mod env basically is) this is equal with inverting it.

UrsaMajor wrote:Mod env increased depth resolution (esp from 0-10)

Not sure if I understand you 100% correct.
The depth of the mod env is anyway exponential, which means the resolution of the slider is higher, the lower you set the value.
Is it that what you mean?

UrsaMajor wrote:LFO 1-shot mode for use as 2nd env.

You can achieve that by enabling the KB sync mode of the LFO (long press the sync button).
In that mode the lfo runs only as long as the sample is playing, you can call it almost a one shot mode.
But I agree, that with short "decay" times that might be a problem.
I'll consider that.

Please use an auto panner as insert fx on the mixer instead.

Mod env Invert switch (negative)
Using the reverse does not seem to give a inverted result.
Sometimes you want to pitch the sound UP, or do a filter sweep UP.

Mod env increased depth resolution
Ok good to know that it it exp. However, I have noticed that it is very hard to pitch a sound in a subtle way, even using a value of 1 is often to much.

LFO 1-shot mode for use as 2nd env
You want true 1-shot with only 1 cycle of the waveform.
Especially when you want to have one env for the amp, and one for filtersweep or pitch for example.

That is exactly what it does in reversed mode, it ramps up.
Just try to apply the mod env to the pitch of a long pad sample.
If you play the sample in normal (not reversed) env mode, then the pitch goes down.
Now reverse the mod env and play again, and it ramps the pitch up.
As a matter of course, the base pitch (where the env amount is applied) is always the original setting.

But I understand what you mean.
What you're actually looking for is not an invert switch. You want the depth amount to be positive or negative, let's say from -100 to +100. Would that fit?

I see your point.
As it goes from 0 to 100, it is always limited to 100 positions.
I'll see if this is possible.

Also here, I totally see your point. I'll see if there's a way to fit this into the UI.

Excellent, that's very easy to implement;)
Goes right to the task list.
