[DONE in 5.7.1.7] Adjust a few mixer sliders simultaneously

Postby Hiccup » Tue Apr 24, 2018 2:13 pm

Hi!
I'm looking for a way to adjust more than one slider of the mixer simultaneously. I know that it is possible to adjust the complete set of sliders but that is not the same for live performances. It can be interesting to select some first, as with the multimute function, and move the sliders afterwards.
Is this current possible?

What sliders do you want to move simultaneously?
And what exactly do you mean with "move simultaneously"?
Do you mean to have those sliders "linked" to each other like you can do on the mixer view with the volume sliders? If so.... that's not possible, in other words, you can't.

If you just want to reduce the volume of multiple tracks together, then I could add an amplifier/leveler to the FX list.
That way you'd be able to send several track to that FX slot and then change the volume there.

Would that help?

Yes, I wrote about the volume sliders of the mixer. And when it is not possible to link them in a group then this is the answer to my question.
But your idea sounds interesting. It would be a workaround that will work different to my question, but it will work! Thanks

Ah yes, now I see. I've read the post, but not the topic title ;).
A leveler would anyway be a good FX add-on. So I see no reason why not to add it.
In the current version you can use the Stereo Tool effect, but it does not allow to reduce the volume to zero. Its range is 50%-200%.

No problem.
I've tried the Stereo Tool. Yes, the range is not enough to kill the sound completely.
Hopefully this will not be a stupid question, but why are there only 3 FX each channel? Ok, in sum this is a lot. Is it the absolute limit?

You actually have far more than that.
You have a main FX chain with 3 group insert FX slots.
Then you have 2 channel insert FX slots per mixer channel.
And you have 2 sum FX slots in the master section.
That is a total of 36 channels * 2 FX + 3 FX + 2 SUM FX = a total of 77 FX processors (each of them can load one out of 46 different effect types).
I think that's more than enough;)

This is now possible by using the new Pan/Vol Effect (see tab "other" in the FX selector).
Use the Pan/Vol Effect in one of the main FX chain units, then send all the tracks you want to control to that unit, e.g. FX1.
Once done, you can control the volume (or panorama) of all attached tracks using the FX slider.
