Small bug when listening in background

Postby shaulhadar » Mon Mar 28, 2016 5:44 pm

Hello planet!
I purchased G-stomper some time ago and its a blast!

I encountered a small issue. when i press the stop button for long, and than go out of the app, after a few seconds, g-stomper does a small glitch in the sound, and than continues as if everything is ok.

I tried a few times and it happenes the same.
I also tried in different latency options and sound drivers.

I am working with a samsung sm-t700 tablet..
I was wandering if there is any way i can fix this?

Thanks for your time,
Shaul.

Thanks for your message, Shaul.
When you say you "go out of the app", you mean the app goes to the background and something else gets in front of it, is this correct?

In that situation it is indeed possible that you get a small glitch/dropout.
1. In the moment the GSS app goes to the background, Android reduces its priority, which means it gets less cpu power from the operating system.
2. At the same time some other app gets the highest priority because it gets in front. And usually apps use quite a lot cpu when they get in front (which again means GSS gets less).
3. GSS does an auto-save a few seconds after it moved to the background. This process also uses cpu.

All these things together may produce a small glitch.

Just wondering.. Are you using OpenSL as audiosystem?
If yes, can you please try AudioTrack instead.
G-Stomper Main Screen / SETUP / AUD / Audio System = AudioTrack

Thanks for getting back to me, planet.

I tried both ssl and audiotrack and it happens the same.

also, it just press the "home" button on the tablet and go to the home screen, i don't open any other app.
I tried openeing another app in the same time and it did glitch a bit.

I actually use cross dj app, you probably know it. when i use it, i can press the home button and and i can open a synth, and there is no audible glitch, so they somehow made something there that has the ability, i don't really understand in the software element, but maybe the use some kind of technology to do it, perhaps the superpowered api, but i am not sure.

Is there anything else i can check perhaps?

Thanks for your time,

Shaul.

For now, there's not much you can do.

In fact, pressing the home button is equal with running a different app. The home button shows the home screen, which is technically part of the launcher app.

What you can try is to disable any power saving features for G-Stomper. Depending on your Android version you can probably do that.
On my Galaxy S5 I can completely exclude G-Stomper Studio from power saving, which definitely gives the app more resources.
