Thank you for your report Cire86.
What kind of tablet are you using? Brand? Model?
What Android Version are you on?
What kind of keyboard are you using?

Usually a reboot only occurs on a fatal crash, e.g. when accessing the USB port is not possible by Android or if it's accessed from multiple apps at the same time.
So far, I've tested va-beast midi implementation on a nexus 7 v2 and on a galaxy nexus phone. I'll do some further tests on galaxy tab 10.1 and 7.9 soon... finally got a converter cable for the samsung port today. I also have successful reports from users on kindle and bionic tablets.

Unfortunately the Android internal usb integration is different on most brands and also on most android versions. Also the integration by "intent" (the situation when the app is not started) varies from Android Version to Android Version. Even if it's existing since Android 3.1, it's still beta like and experimental.
Sorry for that inconvenience:/

Tablet: Acer iconia a501 Android 4.0.4
Keyboard: korg micro key 25

When i Start the synth first and then connect the keyboard everything
works fine, even the modweel works well so i can use it
its just the thing that it reboots If i connect first and then start the synth
for example in caustic it is not so there i can connect first.its not as bad for me its just a report
i have a lot of fun with Keyboard and synth if i do it the right way :D

Thank you for the details.
I cannot promise if I can fix this, but I'm definitely going after it.
I did a test in this moment on a galaxy tab 10.1 v1, also on Android 4.04, and it worked fine (too sad, I hoped to be able to reproduce it).

Thank you for reporting this problem.
Just to understand you right. After the restart you can connect the midi kbd without problems?

Did you connect the kbd to any other apps before you used it with the va-beast?

1. I connect the kbd
2. The tablet asks me then to wich app (e.g. va beast, rd4,...) i want to connect the kbd
3. I choose va beast from that list
4. The tablet freezes
5. After a restart without disconnecting the kbd all works fine

Yes, i connected it to some other apps (rd4, caustic, heat,...) before. Only rd4 forces a restart from time to time, too.

Thank you for the explanation.

Would be interesting to know what happens if you just do a fresh boot of your device, and then, afterwards, connect and choose va-beast.

Did you try to start the va-beast first and connect then, once it's started? What happens then?

Hey Scott
Just one more question, maybe that helps to reproduce the behavior on my devices.

What usb midi enabled apps are you using beside the VA-Beast Synthesizer?
RD4?
Caustic?
Anything else?

Maybe somehow they get in conflict with each other. When you send me a list, then I can check if I can reproduce it in any way, maybe if one of the other apps is still open in the background, or however.

Thanks in advance

Yes, of course. The ones i tried out are caustic 3, rd4, heat synthesizer. As i wrote before, the only one of them freezes my device (sometimes) when connecting a midi-usb-keyboard is rd4.
The one i like the most is heat with its vst-integration. This would be an awesome additional feature for g-stomper as well an would make it almost perfect. :-) ;-)
