[not a bug] G-Stomper producer doesn't support midi out to Hydrasynth

I have been trying to get G Stomper producer to transmit midi to my ASM Hydrasynth Explorer, but the app's midi device page says that only midi in is supported.

I can confirm that midi in is working - when I press a key on my Hydrasynth the same note lights up on the G-Stomper app and a midi icon shows next to the play button, but when I press a key on the G-Stomper app no icon is shown next to the play button and no sound is played on the Hydrasynth.

I am using USB to connect to my phone. I have been able to transmit midi successfully to the Hydrasynth using the Pagan sequencer app without issue.

If you see only "in" as supported direction in the midi device, then because this is what the Android OS reported. GSP can just use what it gets from the OS. The internal hookup of the midi device is fully done by Android, not by GSP. GSP just consumes the given device.

Please try the following. Ensure that no other app on the device has an active out connection to the "in" port of your hydrasynth. Eventually, rebooting your device might help.

Then first start GSP, and then plug in the USB cable.
Does that change anything?

Ahah, thanks, it was the Pagan app claiming the port. I closed both apps, reopened producer and now it shows as in/out, but it still doesn't output any midi, doesn't show the icon in G-Stomper and doesn't play any sounds on the Hydrasynth.

I also tried my Arturia Microfreak and that was the same, in/out shown, but no icon when pressing a note in G-Stomper and no note sent to the Microfreak.

What you need to do is to map a concrete midi channel via SETUP / MIDI / ....

By default, the selected synth track is mapped to "all" (omni) midi channels, which does not allow midi out.

To find the correct midi channel, simply use the midi learn feature. While setting the midi channel, e.g., 1, you must set both ports, in port and out port. In most cases, setting both in and out to 1 will work.

Once you've saved that channel, ports setup, GSP will send midi out.
