This sounded better when I was making it. I wonder if the normalisation altered the bass line as it sounds out of tune and definitely clashes with the kick drum. Perhaps I need fmto figure out a sidechain compression setting for the kick on the master panel.

Hey Lucid
Thanks for the post.

Regarding the normalization:
It does nothing else than the following:
1. Analyzes the final export file to find the max peak
2. Raises the volume so that the max peak is at -0dB
There's no change in the tuning, it just makes it as loud as possible (without any loss of quality).

But there's another thing which may occur slight differences from what you hear directly out of your device (even if hooked up with speakers) to what you hear when you listen to an exported file (on a PC for example).

The point is that the D/A converters (which are built into mobile devices) are usually not the best ones. This means out of the headphone jack you usually won't get the best quality (mostly very high/low frequencies will be different). But that's a technical thing with the particular hardware and driver.

The export on the other hand has no quality loss, not a single bit. Therefore you might notice a slight difference.

For me the track sounds good, but definitely needs a bit more variations;)
The sounds are great, I love that deep stuff in the middle, fits very well.

Nice track, I enjoyed it.

If you don't mind I'd throw a few ideas that I think would benefit your mix.

It seems to me that all sounds are panned dead center which gave me the impression of listening to a mono track. I would spread out some sounds (while leaving the bass and the kick in the center) and add a bit of reverb to them to get a wide stereo image.

OTOH I don't hear clashing between the kick and the bass. They are not even playing at the same time apart from the double-kick which hits at the same time as the low bass note, but you can correct that manually by lowering the velocity of that particular bass note. Side chaining compression wouldn't give you a different result there.

I hope you find these ideas useful.

This is by no means the finished product. I wanted to build a song structure. My plan is to load the full track into a patternset and layer some more instrumental parts. I've got the strings and I'm playing with ideas for a piano hook. Sidechaining or mute grouping the bass and kick will help out some. The swing is a problem too deactivating all shuffle and nudging the bass sample start point might lock the groove in place proper. Thanks for the feedback. Version 2 is going to get a big upgrade.
