G-Stomper Rhythm over Bluetooth?

Postby SonicMMM » Wed Jul 05, 2017 8:22 pm

I'm blown away by this app! Programmed my first drum machine back in 1981, and could never have dreamed such things would exist!
That said, I tried listening to one of my grooves over my Bluetooth speaker at work...no go. I could barely hear a quiet distorted version...all other apps sounded fine.
Any suggestions? I'm using a brand new LG Aristo running Android 7.

Wow, that's indeed a long time ago. In 1981 I didn't even own my first C64 ;)

Regarding your Bluetooth speaker:
That strongly depends on your device, your Android version and the Bluetooth speaker itself.
Generally, hooking up a speaker over Bluetooth adds more latency (but that's another story) + it uses more CPU time, as this changes the underlying audio path (the way the signal goes after it leaves the G-Stomper app).
If you have the chance to hookup the speaker with a cable, then I'd always recommend go that way instead of using the Bluetooth connection.

When you say "all other apps sounded fine", do you mean Music Players? Or do you mean other Sequencer apps?

However, what you can do is first to reboot your device and then give it another try. That ensures that no other apps block anything in the hardware chain.

If it still happens, try using a different Audio System in G-Stomper:
Main Screen / SETUP / AUD / Audio System = OpenSL or AudioTrack (classic).

Hope that solves the problem.

Thanks for the fast reply!
I thought that maybe turning off MIDI over bluetooth might solve the problem, but haven't been able to check it yet (speaker is at work). If that doesn't work, I'll try your suggestion.
I'll let you know...

If you're using a Bluetooth LE MIDI controller + the Bluetooth speaker at the same time, then yes, dismounting the BT MIDI controller could definitely make it better.

Well, my idea didn't work, but yours did! Awesome! I'll still keep MIDI off, and latency isn't a problem in my situation.
Thanks, and you'll see me around!

Awesome!
Which did actually solve it?
The reboot or the Audio System?

Audio system. I chose classic.
Gotta get busy, but maybe we can chat later. Have a great day!

Update: I decided to go wired...bluetooth was too quirky.

Thanks for letting us know. In my opinion, going wired (for the speakers) is always the better choice.
